Dads Need Organization Too

MAKE HIS DAY

Feeling a little stuck on a gift this Father's Day? If your dad or husband is anything like mine, they tend to buy themselves what they want, when they want, leaving me stuck on what to get them when these holidays arise. Why not give Dad (or whoever fills that role) something he doesn’t even realize he needs….organization!

For most guys, out of sight, out of mind is typically how they work. Like closing their overstuffed t-shirt drawer, adding one more thing to the garage and walking away, or even tossing another hat in the closet. Below are a few tips to get your Father (or whoever you can count on for bad jokes) a little more organized. Or if your more into outsourcing, our team here at Lifestyled is here to help with whatever space your dad needs, edited, sorted and organized.

BBQ | What dad doesn’t like to grill

Gather all grilling items from around the kitchen. In addition to the obvious, consider lighters, basting brushes and meat thermometers too.

Sort by type.

Locate a cabinet drawer near the door, closest to the grill.

Add drawer dividers to keep like minded items together and categorized.

HATS | Say goodbye to stacks of caps all over the house

Gather all his hats from around the house.

Categorize by type, then by color.

Do a quick edit of any that are damaged, never worn, or gifted swag.

Locate a closet wall or shelf where structured hats could be displayed then store the rest by color in a labeled bins.

TIES | Rarely worn, but always needed.

Gather all his ties together.

Sort by color.

Edit out any that you know he hasn't worn in over a year. Set them aside for donation.

After editing, get a count of how many ties will be returning to the closet.

If space allows, consider rolling ties into these organizers in a drawer. For tighter closets, we like using something like this.

Lastly, arrange ties in color order for easy selection and a clean visual.
