Linen Closet Organization

Do you have trouble keeping your linen closet organized? Does this space become a catchall when cleaning up? Or, have you spent way too long looking for a specific item? Well, then you’ve come to the right place! Below we’re sharing our tips to organize your linen closet and keep it that way.

Step One // The best way to start is by editing! Remove everything and toss towels with holes, empty product bottles, and expired items. You’d be surprised just how much extra space you’ll free up just by accomplishing this first task!

Step Two // Organize from the top down. Use upper shelves to store extra blankets, sheets and duvets. We like to fold sheet sets together and place on a labeled shelf (by size) or each set per storage basket. These Container Store baskets are our go-to, and so easy to label!

Step Three // Middle/eye level shelves are best for storing towels. Start by folding bath towels, then hand towels and washcloths. Stack them from largest to smallest and label by room (for example, kids bath, guest bath, etc) For easy grabbing, we love using shelf dividers to keep a uniform look and keep them from falling onto one another whether you’re taking them out of putting them away.

Step Four // Low shelves are a great place to store extra bath products like soaps, toothbrushes, and travel sized backstock. We like to separate by use for key efficiency! and store by category these bamboo lidded baskets for function and style.

Step Five // With the proper storage accessories it’s simple to use the closet floor for extra items like beach towels, first aid, and paper products. Try rolling beach towels and placing in a tall basket to utilize that space. We also recommend these clear storage drawers for first aid items and are easily stackable for creating extra space.
